OSX 10.4.11 Mac without intel chip

Postby mlp » Tue Jun 18, 2013 1:18 am

I have the above operating system and Mac w/o the intel chip. I drag and drop a ZIP file as directed. Nothing happens except that another file is created that I cannot open. The new file has a .docx.cpgz extension. What to do?

Does this happen with just one particular zip file or all zip files?

I don't know if Keka works on PowerPC machines which might be the problem but since it is obviously running maybe it's okay.

If you've used it for other files with success then it may be that the file is corrupt. This is often the cause of cpgz file creation. If it's a file you've downloaded from the internet it might be worth downloading it again or seeing if it opens with another program to check if the problem is with Keka (eg "unzip" on the command line)

You need to use Keka for Tiger, in case you're not using it. If you're trying to Zip a DOCX file, it seems that Keka is trying to UNZIP it, since DOCX is a zipped file. Try to force the compression, Preferences - Action - Always compress.
