password length limit for 7Z files

Post by macburger » Wed Oct 16, 2013 6:20 pm

Sorry, but as a new forum member, apparently not allowed to use the search? (said "you're not allow to use this").

1)What is the password character length limit in Keka 1.0.3? Don't see this mentioned in docs.

I assume it'll only use passwords & not key files?

2) About the setting, "Exclude Mac resource forks"... "you can create archives that looks clean in non Mac systems."
I want to send encrypted files to Windows users. Is checking this setting necessary for Non Mac users to be able to unzip & have the files display correctly? (say, they're using 7-Zip)

Thanks.

1. FWIW, I've used 31-char passwords with 7z files. Don't know what the limit is, though.

2. You don't have to use that setting. It merely excludes .DS_Store and perhaps some other filetypes I'm forgetting that are hidden in OSX but will show in other OSs and may perplex/annoy non-OSX-using recipients.
